What is Moissanite?

What is a Moissanite?
A gemstone born from the stars.

It is a naturally occurring mineral that looks and tests as a diamond but with 2.4x more sparkle.

Moissanite was first discovered in 1893 in trace amounts carried to Earth by a spectacular meteorite.

Natural moissanite is incredibly rare and most of what is available today is laboratory-created so there is no destructive mining involved and it's 100% conflict free.

Due to it's durability, moissanite is brilliant gemstone for everyday wear. Moissanite gemstones are a 9.25 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness. In comparison, rubies and sapphires which are also great for everyday wear, are a 9 on the Mohs Scale.

Moissanite is a beautiful gemstone, it is not a diamond substitute or imitation.

It's a diamond rival.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MOISSANITE & DIAMOND

At Elah's we believe diamonds were a girl's best friend.

Moissanite has more brilliance, more fire and more lustre than a diamond. Brilliance, fire and lustre defines the beauty of a jewel.

Moissanite emits more colourful flashes of light than an excellent cut diamond because it has a greater dispersion.

The more of these qualities in a jewel the better; which undoubtedly makes moissanite the most beautiful jewel in the world.

Moissanite is superior than diamond in terms of pricing. You will pay a fraction of the price of a diamond when you compare the same size and quality.

They are nearly as hard as diamonds and extremely durable, making them suitable for every day wear.

A forever gemstone.

Moissanite gems are completely conflict-free as they are grown in a lab. Purchase of a moissanite gem is an ethical and sustainable purchase. They do not require any mining making them easily traceable.

Most importantly, moissanite is not a diamond imposter, but a diamond rival!

With the superior fire, brilliance and sustainability, moissanites are clearly the better choice.
